BAS Athletics

The BAS Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday, May 25. The conditions could not have been more perfect and it was fantastic to be able to have the event again after it being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

We are eagerly awaiting the results to see how we did overall. All schools were feeling the impact of illness with lots of students absent on the day leading to a lot of changes.

I look forward to passing on more results and information once the points are finalised.

Volleyball schools cup

9 students represented the College at the Volleyball School Championships on Thursday, May 12. Thank you to Mr Sutton for Coaching and for Harvey Woodburn for also assisting on the day

Round 2

SPC versus Ballarat College, Shed Oval, 11/5/2022

Our second game of the season was against Ballarat College.

The game started evenly, and Ballarat College had some early opportunities to score. However, our defensive line was able to repel these attacks and to score College were then required to shoot from well outside the penalty box, which in turn were easily stopped by our goal keeper.

As the team began to gel and communicate the possession play that was evident in our previous game reappeared and SPC began to look to score. About 10 minutes into the first half, we were able to find the goal and were then able to score regularly through the first half. The score at half time was 6 – 0.

The second half was a continuation of the first and we were able to score another 6 goals whilst not conceding any. The boys maintained their structure throughout the half and all boys contributed to the defensive aspect of the game as well as the creative ball play that was evident throughout the game. Thanks goes to Rex Van Berkel for filling in as goalkeeper at very late notice.

Final Score SPC 12 – Ballarat College 0

Goal scorers: Josh Remington 3, Indi Armati 3, Oscar Cherry 3, Hugh Jackson 2 and Leonard Goodison

SPC Sport Uniform

All sport uniforms can be purchased at the College Shop. Students need to ensure they are in the correct uniform to participate. The general sport uniform is the navy blue polo top, navy shorts and white socks. Certain sports will require very specific clothing e.g. Football will need to purchase SPC Football shorts and socks. Students should check with their coach as to what is required. Also remember to wear sunscreen at all times.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (tbenoit@stpats.vic.edu.au) or our Sports Administrator Mr Simon Dwyer (sdwyer@stpats.vic.edu.au) at the College with any questions.
