Update on plans for 2020 reunions

May 28, 2020

The OCA is planning a bumper “double header” reunion season for 2021.

It was with much heartache that the St Patrick’s College Old Collegians Association (OCA) was forced to cancel its Term 2 reunion season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reunions for the graduating year levels of 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2015 were scheduled to be held in May.

The OCA was also forced to cancel its major St Patrick’s Day luncheon which would have doubled as a 60-year reunion for the Class of 1960. A planned Annual Celebration Dinner will also not proceed in 2020 at this stage.

Due to the hectic nature of a school calendar, and also due to the continued uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, it is not feasible to simply reschedule these events to a date later in the year.

Rather, the OCA has decided that reunions missed in 2020 will be held in 2021 in conjunction with that year’s planned reunions.

So, the Class of 1980 will celebrate their 40-year reunion next year, alongside the Class of 1981. The Class of 1990 will party with the Class of 1991 and so on. We will enjoy a series of double-header reunions!

The dates for these double headers are yet to be decided but will be published later in the year. Keep an eye on the College website and social media channels for details.

In the meantime, we remain hopeful that reunions scheduled for later in 2020 can still proceed. The Class of 1970 50-Year Reunion is set down for Saturday, August 22 and looks likely to go ahead, presuming indoor gatherings of up to 50 people are permitted.

Similarly, the Class of 2019 One Year Reunion, scheduled for Wednesday, December 2 should be able to proceed as planned.

Invitations for these two reunions will be sent out at an appropriate time.

We thank all Old Collegians for their understanding and continued support during this time.
