VCAL Update – June 19, 2018

June 18, 2018

As the Semester ends we are congratulating all the boys on their progress toward employability.

I’d particularly like to acknowledge the work of my colleagues, Mr Daniel Willey and Mr Michael Weadon, during what has been an incredibly productive semester.

A reminder that boys are also working towards our Applied Learning Celebration Evening, during which we award a number of trophies, certificates and other forms of recognition for individual and group achievement.

The date is October 18, in the OCA Pavilion, at 6.00 pm. Parents are warmly invited to share dinner with us. (There is a cost associated with dinner, however it is always reasonable and delicious.)

I would encourage all the boys to continue to work hard to impress. Some of the awards are competitive.

The most prestigious award is the Employability Award for each Level. This award recognizes the boy who has the most complete employment portfolio and demonstrates all of the Employability Skills to an age appropriate degree. Any boy could win these awards; it’s about hard work and effort.

Coming up next term: industry visits to a number of employers including Bond Homes and the Aquatic Centre, a range of guest speakers for the Business Builders unit of work and continuing collaboration with Loreto College on the Caravan project.
