Our Watch chief executive officer Patty Kinnersly will headline this year’s Chris Yeung MENtal Brekky.
Supported by St Patrick’s College, the 2025 MENtal Brekky will be held at the OCA Pavilion on Friday 24 October from 7-8.30am.
Patty is the face behind Our Watch, Australia’s leader in the primary prevention of violence against women.
Our Watch works to embed gender equality and prevent violence where Australians live, work and socialise.
Patti, who lives in Ballarat, combines her passion for this important cause with her role as director of the Carlton Football Club and non-executive director and secretary of the Australian Women’s Health Network national board.
The Catholic Diocese of Ballarat Bishop’s Charitable Fund is a major sponsor of the brekky once again.
The MENtal Brekky, now in its ninth year, is a major fundraiser for the Chris Yeung Fund.
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of Chris Yeung on 30 May 2015 to suicide – a much-loved son, husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, nephew and a great mate.
Determined to bring awareness and support to men’s mental health, the Chris Yeung Fund was established by some of Chris’ former classmates, family members and close friends.
Working closely with the College since then, the Chris Yeung Fund aims to raise awareness of and provide financial assistance for families in the St Patrick’s College community where the father is suffering mental illness.
To date, the fund has provided fee relief for nearly 20 students (some over multiple years), ensuring they can remain enrolled at the College despite their financial hardship brought about by illness.
The Chris Yeung Fund has also funded youth mental health first aide training for SPC staff and students in various year levels via the Live 4 Life program.
Chris Yeung was a Ballarat boy who attended St Patrick’s College, completing Year 12 in 1981. In his 20s, Chris developed a mental illness which manifested in periods of acute psychosis.
Chris battled his illness for decades but in 2015 he took his own life. Despite his illness, Chris was a qualified accountant and business owner, and much-loved son, father, partner, and brother.
Tickets for the 2025 MENtal Brekky cost $65 per person and can be purchased by scanning the QR code or visiting www.trybooking.com/DCEIL
