The College recently welcomed a generous donation from the Martin family, consisting of cherished items belonging to Michael F. Martin, who attended St Patrick’s College from 1956 to 1960.
During his time at SPC, Michael distinguished himself both academically and in extracurricular activities. He received a matriculation teaching bursary in 1958 and demonstrated a strong passion for athletics between 1956 and 1959. In 1960, he played in the Seconds XVIII football team and held significant leadership roles as Deputy Head Prefect and Dux of the College. Michael had already passed his matriculation in 1959 and was subsequently awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship.
Following his time at SPC, Michael pursued a career in education, ultimately serving as a teacher, with his final position at Essendon Keilor College.
The Martin family maintains a longstanding connection with the College, with several nephews also attending SPC:
- Peter McLean (SPC 1982–1987)
- Craig McLean (SPC 1984–1989)
- Mark McLean (SPC 1985–1990)
- Andrew Carrucan (SPC 1989–1994)
The College gratefully acknowledges the Martin family’s contribution and their enduring association with SPC.
