Headmaster’s Message – August 31, 2017

August 30, 2017

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Friends and Students of St Patrick’s College,

Education is, without doubt, one of the most consistently changing industries in our society. New programs, initiatives, curriculum and teaching pedagogies are constantly being written, debated, taught and tested. It is one of the reasons why teachers are so adept at change. It certainly is never boring!

At St Patrick’s College, a day wouldn’t go by when we, as educators, are not in discussion about how we can improve the learning outcomes for our boys. Just in the space of this week, I have been privileged to be involved in discussions around our newly planned Year 9 program to be introduced in 2018, potential enhancements and improvements to our VCAL program and conversations centered on the current review of our e-learning plan.

In addition, we are now well and truly in the planning phase for our new Strategic Plan which will form the blueprint for the College for the next three years. Many conversations around the needs of the College over this time, including areas for significant growth, are being held in many different contexts and environments. This all points to one important thing: that as a community, we take the education of our students very seriously and we recognise the importance of constantly striving for improvement.

As every school is very aware, parents and carers play such a critical part in this goal. Without parental feedback and support we are not able to identify areas that we need to improve on to provide support for students where necessary. As a vibrant learning community, we remain ever mindful of the strength in teamwork, between staff and parents and students, and the importance of us working together to ensure each student experiences success.

Have a great weekend.

John Crowley
