Senior School Report – May 25, 2017

May 24, 2017

At the time of writing our Year 10s will be preparing for their -One night of homelessness-.- After this night many will have a better understanding of the circumstances which lead to people being homeless and have more empathy with them. This in spite of the fact the night is not without some enjoyment, they will have shared social experience and many get to sneak home into warm beds to recover; not the usual follow-up to a night sleeping rough for the homeless.- I trust all will go well and thank you in advance Mr Taylor and Mr Clark for their facilitating of this event and all teachers and students taking part. I will find my thermals.

DID YOU KNOW? – Morrisby Online measures aptitudes, aspirations and aspects of personality-

HOW DOES IT WORK? – Morrisby combines these 3A’s to produce a personal list of Careers, Subjects and Courses for consideration

WHAT DO WE THINK? – Morrisby Online is the- ‘gold standard’ careers guidance assessment.

– Please RSVP by Monday 29 May to careers@stpats.vic.edu.au or contact Mr Meehan.

All Year 10 students undertook Morrisby assessments at the end of Term 1.

Since the beginning of Term 2 all year 10 students have been assigned a one on one appointment explaining the content of the Report and how to interpret it. – The above session is to inform parents on how to interpret the data thereby ensuring the report will be a tool that will assist parents and sons in subject selection for Years 11 and 12 and beyond. I strongly encourage all parents of Year 10 boys to set aside time to attend. In previous years, parents and students who have attended have been glad they did, and those who missed it have tended to regret it -“ be the former not the latter.- The College values this initiative and accordingly we invest a significant amount of time and money in ensuring that both the boys and their parents understand how to interpret that data thus rendering the final report a valuable tool in subject selection and career planning in the final years at St Patricks College.

PAM

If you have not had a look on PAM for a couple of weeks, I ask that do so.- Prior and post to looking on PAM, please attempt some dialogue with your son about his progress.- This may help with either continuing on with his good efforts to the end of semester, or making a better effort for the last few weeks.
