Robert McDougall (SPC 1977-78)

Robert Grant Bruce McDougall (SPC 1977-78) sadly passed away on 15 April 2025 after a short illness surrounded by his family.

He was much-loved dad to Majella and James (SPC 2008-13), grandfather of two, partner to Jane (Auchettl) and stepdad to Phillip, Stephen, Carla and families.

His funeral was held at the Ballarat North Football Club on 24 April. Rob was a boarder at SPC from Edenhope and completed Form 5 & 6.

Rob showed his sense of community from an early age as a member of the SPC St Vincent de Paul Conference.

He was actively involved in community service from a young age, as a member of SPC’s St Vincent de Paul and Legion of Mary groups.

Rob also played squash and was named as the only student presenting for HSC Music in 1978.

Rob was a member of the SPC squash team.

Rob was a much-loved member of the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast, joining in 1998 and serving as president in 2005/06 and in many other leadership roles. He was also active at Rotary district level as district trainer and GSE team leader to Brazil.

He was remembered as epitomising the spirit of rotary as a “gifted leader, loyal mentor and supporter, selfless and wholehearted participant”.

His Rotary comrades were planning to travel to help the people in Ambon in Indonesia, in the weeks following his passing, to continue the service work that had been Rob’s passion for so long.
