Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to play a meaningful and rewarding role in your community. Many benefits exist for volunteering including maintaining active involvement in the community, developing social links, increasing confidence, maintaining and developing skills and- having fun!

Volunteer Programs

Successful volunteer programs provide many benefits to the organisation and the community whilst being a highly rewarding experience.- City of Ballarat has approximately 300 volunteers who are key to the success of- a range of programs and services including:

  • Meals on Wheels

  • Ballarat Art Gallery

  • Her Majesty’s- Theatre

  • Youth Council and Youth Programs

  • Home Library Support

  • Community Events

  • Multicultural Ambassadors

As a volunteer for the City of Ballarat, you will need to hold a valid working with children check and be willing to undertake a police check. You will be provided with the induction and training required to perform this role.- –

FReeZA Sonika Volunteer -“

The City of Ballarat Youth Services are currently looking for dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic young people, aged 12 -“ 25 years to become members of our FReeZA Program in 2019.

The FReeZA program is a Victorian state government funded initiative that gives young people the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events within their local communities. The program gives all participants hands-on experience and training in the Australian music industry through extensive event management, mentoring and networking opportunities.

Youth Council Volunteer -“

City of Ballarat Youth Development are currently looking for dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic young people, aged 12 -“ 25 years to become members of our Youth Council program in 2019.

The City of Ballarat Youth Council is a team of young people who are passionate about being involved in their community and representing the views, ideas and needs of young people in the Ballarat area.-

Youth Councillors lead projects and campaigns as well as advocating for young people in the Ballarat region. The team create unique opportunities for Ballarat’s youth while developing their own life and leadership skills.

Home Library Service Volunteer -“

The City of Ballarat welcomes applications to volunteer for the home library service from all people, regardless of education, background or skill set.- We are looking for volunteers who can provide the efficient and effective delivery of home library materials, to eligible residents who are unable to visit the library due to ill health, frailty or disability.
