NAB Flanagan Art Prize – Entries Close Soon

Entries are flooding in from around Australia as top artists aim to share in the $7000 in prize money on offer at the 2016 NAB Flanagan Art Prize being organised by St Patrick’s College.

Now in its ninth year the NAB Flanagan Art Prize, hosted by St Patrick’s College, has continued to grow into one of the region’s most sought after and respected awards.

This year’s exhibition will be held in the St Patrick’s College Old Collegians Association Pavilion from Friday August 19 until Sunday August 28. The entry fee remains unchanged at $30 per art work with entries closing on Friday, June 24. Entries for this year’s award must be lodged via the St Patrick’s College website. Pre-judging will be held in July to select the final artworks which will be put on display in the St Patrick’s College Old Collegians Pavilion in August.

St Patrick’s College Headmaster Mr John Crowley said organisers were delighted that this year’s event was attracting entries from many established artists.

-The NAB Flanagan Art Prize aims to provide a high quality and prestigious art award in Ballarat that reflects St Patrick’s College’s commitment to excellence in the arts,- Mr Crowley said.

-Not only are we excited that entrants from around Australia are now entering the award, but we are equally delighted the award has continued to be supported by many dozens of artists from in and around Ballarat.

-We are confident that the 2016 NAB Flanagan Art Exhibition will be our best yet.-

Final judging of the award will be conducted on Friday, August 19 before the gala opening that night. Tickets to attend the gala opening launch are valued at $20 and can be obtained by contacting the College. The exhibition will be open free to the public from 11am-4pm on Saturday, August 20, Sunday August 21, Saturday August 27 and Sunday, August 28.

Each year the winner of the Flanagan Art Prize receives a $5000 cheque, courtesy of the National Australia Bank. The winner of the Federation University Emerging Artist Prize receives $1500 while the artist who produces the Best Affordable Artwork (Under $500) will receive a $500 prize courtesy of Lifestyle Travel Ballarat.
