Acting Headmaster’s Message – March 28, 2018

March 27, 2018

This Sunday, we will acknowledge and celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Easter Sunday also marks the end of Holy Week, the end of Lent and the last day of the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday).

As we know from the Gospels, Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion. His resurrection marks the triumph of good over evil, sin and death. It is the singular event which proves that those who trust in God and accept Christ will be raised from the dead.

As Easter Sunday approaches, it is good to reflect on the example Jesus has left us in terms of integrity, commitment and of accepting the consequences of our actions and beliefs. Amidst the great joy of family time this Easter, we should also spare a thought for the price sometimes paid by those who stand up for what we know is right, for speaking the truth in the face of opposition and for taking the road less travelled because it is an inconvenience. Theirs is the faithfulness we see in Jesus and the example we should all turn to.

The renewal of our baptismal promises, which is customary at the Easter Day Mass, invites us to reflect upon the immense implications of our sharing in the Saviour’s risen life, for the sake of the whole world.

Thanks for the term!

Term 1 is always an incredibly busy one for all at St Patrick’s and the success of the many events, functions and activities that have taken place can only occur through the combined efforts of the many. My time as Acting Headmaster has been made all the more enjoyable thanks to the knowledge and commitment of our staff who bring so much energy to the College every day. As I have noted on a number of occasions to the staff, we are always better when we work together!

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to welcoming you back in Term 2. May the good news of the risen Christ be a source of hope and joy for all families over the Easter Season.

Regards

Mr Stephen Hill
