Old Collegian- Michael Tyquin (SPC 1963-70), a boarder from Laverton, is pictured above, in August with the Chief of Army, Lt. General Angus Campbell and Major General Paul McLachlan in Enoggera for the launch of his most recent book. Mike shares his story below.

Michael Tyquin attended SPC as a boarder from Laverton between 1963 and 1970. He went on to Monash University and after travelling abroad completed another degree there in 1978. Subsequently he worked for State and Federal Governments in various departments. After completing a PhD at the University of Melbourne he has practised as a consulting historian and is the author of many books and journal articles.

The experience in the Cadet Corps at St Patrick’s never quite left him and he has been a member of- the Army Reserve since 1982. The photograph shows Mike in August with the Chief of Army, Lt. General Angus Campbell and Major General Paul McLachlan in Enoggera for the launch of his most recent book.

In 2016 Michael left Canberra and built a house by the sea on the eastern coast of Tasmania. An inveterate ‘tourist’ he continues to travel overseas, with a second trip to Myanmar planned for 2018.
