Building Fund
St Patrick’s College is committed to providing all students with first class educational opportunities, delivered by committed and enthusiastic teachers in facilities that incorporate emerging technologies to enhance learning outcomes for each student.
In St Patrick’s College’s instance, the school also serves as a ‘home away from home’ to boys in its care as a school for day students, as well as weekly and full-time boarders, resulting in the extra need to provide first-class and comfortable accommodation for our many boarding students.
Bequests
The financial challenge of maintaining and developing first class educational facilities for boys is immense. The cost of maintaining up to date teaching and learning facilities incorporating emerging and engaging learning technologies is significant and to keep pace in a competitive educational environment the College must be proactive in continuing to expand the programs and facilities available to students. The College also seeks to maintain the inherent beauty within its grounds and buildings, a significant challenge given the century old buildings that are a hallmark of the College.
Fundamentally however St Patrick’s College aims to be true to its Catholic heritage and the spirit of Edmund Rice. The College continues to work closely with the marginalised in the community and offers fee relief to approximately 10% of the student population. It also supports members of our Indigenous community and others experiencing temporary and ongoing hardship. To continue these good works the College needs to attract and invest endowed funds that can be used to finance scholarships and bursaries for students.
St Patrick’s College has a rich history of supporting students with scholarships and bursaries, with many of the College’s highest achievers benefiting from the good will and generosity of the Christian Brothers.
A financial gift or bequest, which would assist both current and future students of the College, would be an appropriate mark of gratitude from those that St Patrick’s College has assisted in the past. At the annual ‘Halls of History Dinner’ it is inspiring to hear the stories of great men such as Colin McDonald QC, Paul Bongiorno and John Fitzgerald and their common held belief that they are who they are today because of the spiritual, educational and financial support of the College and its fine educators.
If you feel that St Patrick’s College in some way has played a precious and significant part in your life today, then through your generous support you can help us serve the needs of future generations of young men who will ‘stick with the green, white and blue’. A bequest is a tangible way that you can show this support and in your own way maintain the tradition of giving and support that has assisted generations of ‘Paddy Boys’.
After making provision for your family, you may wish to make a bequest to St Patrick’s College, Ballarat. Such a gift could be any one or a combination of:
- a specific amount of money;
- a specific asset, for example shares, property, life insurance policies, artworks; or
- a nominated proportion or share in the residue of your estate.
Such a gift can assist the College and its students in a number of ways including:
- Scholarships and bursaries for disadvantaged students;
- Future development of building and grounds available to students;
- Provision of education for Indigenous students at the College;
- Development of environmentally sustainable projects for the College; and
- Supporting social justice initiatives consistent with the charism of an Edmund Rice school.
In making a bequest to the College it is recommended that you contact your solicitor. The following wording could be incorporated to ensure your gift is realisable by the College:
‘I give and bequeath unto the St Patrick’s College (Ballarat) Foundation Incorporated, 1431 Sturt Street, Ballarat in the State of Victoria for use at the discretion of the Headmaster and Executive of the Foundation with the approval of the Board of St Patrick’s College an amount equivalent to …………. Percent (………….%) of the residue of my estate or the sum of …………. Dollars, whichever is the greater, free of any probate, estate or any other death duties, whether State or Federal, and I declare that the receipt of the Chair or Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the said Foundation for the said sum shall be a full and complete discharge to my Trustee therefore’.
We would greatly appreciate if you would, in confidence and without obligation let the College’s Bequest Officer know your intentions so that we can thank you for your support on a more personal basis. If you are so inclined we would like to share with you significant College events so that you can experience first hand the potential of your gift to change the life of a boy in the future.

All donations to the SPC Foundation Scholarship Fund are tax deductible. 100% of donations received through these funds are put towards helping educate boys in need.
