Junior School

December 1, 2022

By Mr Gavin Webb, Director of the Junior School

Congratulations and well done to everyone on your efforts over the past nine weeks, Term 4 has been extremely busy. A big change this year saw every year level begin the next school year for two weeks (2023 Head start). New classmates, teachers and curriculum was introduced, which has given all students a taste of what to expect upon returning in 2023. Thank you to all staff who managed to “finish off” 2022 requirements, such as marking exams and completing reports, as well as preparing for the early start of 2023, a huge effort by all.

Exams

Boys need to be congratulated on the way they approached the English, Maths, Humanities and Science Exams in Week 7. A lot of preparation and revision went into these and certainly is a learning curve, which will hold them in good stead for the future.

Orientation Day

Tuesday, November 29, saw 211 Grade 6 students from 50 feeder Primary Schools attend Orientation Day. It was great to see the Year 12 Leaders welcome and escort the boys to class. In what was a day of nerves, excitement and many firsts, the boys enjoyed the morning with their new classmates and Homeroom Teacher. This was followed by library and music orientation sessions. The day culminated in a parent information session in the gym. Afterwards parents had time to mix and chat with other families and key staff. Thanks must go to all the staff who contributed to the organisation and running of the day, in particular I would like to thank the Year Level Coordinators, Margie Dodd and Jacinta Burge, for their organisation prior to the day. In what is a major educational step, the day was overwhelmingly a positive experience for all involved.

Awards

On Thursday, December 1, the College hosted the end of year Awards Ceremony in the gym. All award winners should be proud of their achievements, whilst some who may not have won an award should be equally as proud of their year.
