Junior School – Week 4, Term 4

Term 4 continues to travel by at a frantic pace for both students and staff. Plenty has already happened in the first four weeks, which is why we have all been waiting in anticipation for this coming Melbourne Cup long weekend! Student assessment, science excursions, assemblies, Year 7 Band Super Sevens, PAT testing, BAS after school sport, Minyip and Warrnambool Clay Target Shoot have all occurred on top of the day to day learning and teaching. The co and extra-curricular activities certainly make SPC a special place to be so please get involved in all aspects of the College. Having a sense of belonging and identity will enhance your school experience so listen to the morning notices carefully and regularly check your emails to see what is on.

Pastoral Care Group “Christmas Hampers”

We heard from Deputy Headmaster, Elizabeth Ryan, at Tuesday’s College Assembly about the upcoming donation hampers. Each Pastoral Care group will be responsible for putting together a hamper to donate to a family in need over Christmas. I strongly encourage all Junior School Students to support this initiative by not only donating some non-perishable food items but reflecting on why we are doing this. Not all are as fortunate as yourselves, especially at this time of the year, so put yourself in the position that others find themselves and DONATE!

Thank you to Paul Nolan, who successfully organised and ran the Grade Five Information Evening on Thursday, October 24. All speakers did a great job of notifying new and returning families about all things SPC. Special thanks must go to the 20 additional staff who conducted tours on the night.

Yesterday we successfully co-hosted (with Loreto) the Year 8 Health and Wellbeing Day. Federation University students coordinated the day with assistance from SPC and Loreto staff. Thank you to Steve Biggin, Leigh McKee and the Year 8 Pastoral Tutors for your efforts on the day on what was another great day of learning for our boys.
